Steam Instructor for Facility Representatives

Project Description:

The training will provide the fundamentals of steam and operating practices needed to maintain a safe and efficient steam system. It will present the sizing of a complete steam distribution system for HVAC and process applications which includes sizing of steam pipes, pressure reducing stations and control valves. Proper steam sizing and selection for various methods will be practiced and methods to detect steam trap failure. Condensate removal and recovery will be discussed. The training will present the principles to steam engineering and heat transfer, covering all aspects of steam and condensate systems, from the boiler house and steam distribution through the condensate recovery system and returning to the boiler.

The training course will be conducted at Aiken, SC. The range for the dates of service are November 12, 2019 through January 31, 2020.

The course content includes but is not limited to:
a. Basic steam engineering principles
b. Generation of steam
c. Steam system basics
d. Control and regulation of steam
e. Steam traps and the removal of condensate
f. Steam tracing
g. Condensate management and steam utilization
h. Understand methods for sizing steam and condensate lines
i. Demonstrate steam trap application, selection, and sizing
j. Understand stall and condensate removal
k. Understand methods to select and size pumps
